The citizens' initiative Hochwasser Altgemeinde Rodenkirchen e.V. was founded in March 1993 and aims to reduce the risk of flooding in the south of Cologne. European Forest Institute



The EFI in Bonn deals with the broad topic of forest resilience. This includes forest crisis management in the event of disturbances such as storms, insects, drought and fire, as well as their interactions. Storm and fire in particular have significant overlaps with civil defense and disaster risk management. The EFI Bonn works Europe-wide and has access to a large network of experts. Especially when it comes to vegetation fire, this also includes experts from fire services.

Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Service
of the City of Bonn


The fire, rescue and ambulance service is a department within the administrativ
structure of the city of Bonn. About 400 full time personell are responsible for

Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Service
of the City of Cologne


The range of tasks of the Cologne Fire Brigade in the area of hazard prevention includes the core tasks of rescue services, technical assistance, fire protection and disaster control. To ensure that all people in need in Cologne can be helped quickly and in a qualified manner, several partners at different locations work closely together under the umbrella of the Cologne Fire Brigade. The Cologne Fire Brigade maintains eleven combined fire and rescue stations as well as seven ambulance stations, one fireboat station, one helicopter station and 28 volunteer fire brigade locations throughout the city.

FOREST EUROPE / Liaison Unit Bonn


Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, has taken over the chairmanship of the secretariat of the pan-European forestry ministerial process FOREST EUROPE for four years as of 1 January 2021. Under the leadership of Thomas Haußmann and in cooperation with the European Forest Institute (EFI), forest experts from Italy, Costa Rica, Austria and Germany work on key forest policy issues in Europe. The origin of the forest policy cooperation of European forest ministers was the joint commitment to international cooperation to counteract the forest dieback caused by acid rain in the 1980s.

FSC is an organisation for securing important environmental and social standards in the forest. The certificate is awarded after a successful audit by independent third parties, which is repeated at least annually. Civil Engineering Office City of Bonn


The Civil Engeneering Office of the City of Bonn is responsible for the municipal traffic facilities as well as the urban drainage in the Bonn urban area. The scope of duties covers the construction and maintenance of public roads and their traffic lights (traffic lights) as well as the sewerage network and more. The office also coordinates all construction sites in the public road area.
